Tecumseh (c. 1768–1813) was a Shawnee war leader and diplomat who built a pan-Indigenous confederacy to resist American expansion. During the War of 1812 he allied with Great Britain and helped capture Detroit before his death at the Battle of the Thames. His confederacy collapsed after his death, but his vision of Indigenous unity and sovereignty became a lasting historical legacy.
Black Hawk (Makataimeshekiakiak) was a Sauk war leader who allied with the British during the War of 1812, participating in key battles such as Fort Mackinac and Credit Island. His wartime experiences solidified his resistance to American expansion and shaped the later Black Hawk War.
Henry Procter (c. 1763–1822) was a British Army officer who commanded the Detroit frontier in Upper Canada during the War of 1812. James Lawrence (1781–1813) was a United States Navy officer who commanded the frigate USS Chesapeake during the War of 1812.
