River Raisin Battlefield
The River Raisin Battlefield in Monroe, Michigan, preserves the site of two January 1813 engagements of the War of 1812, known collectively as the Battle of Frenchtown and the subsequent River Raisin Massacre. This American defeat, the largest of the war, became a rallying cry for the United States and had lasting consequences for Indigenous peoples.
